Perched on a hillside, this modern prairie style house took advantage of all the amenities this site had to offer. The slope of the hill allowed us to carve out a basement level garage and in-law suite, which also created opportunities on the first floor to maximize views out and natural light in. A natural stream and woods trickled down the left side and rear of the property, which gave us the opportunity to capture views from the dining room and kitchen. Seamlessly off the kitchen and living room is a screened porch that overlooks the private backyard. The master suite located to have views of the backyard as well.

Nestled into a hill on 5 beautiful acres of Tennessee woodlands, this is a truly one of a kind house designed to follow the contours of the land. The common areas were oriented to incorporate natural light all day long and have direct access to the outdoors. The elevated screened porch and deck has panoramic views of the surrounding ravine and grassy meadow.

This California modern style home has details like a curving limestone wall, shed style standing seam metal roofs, tall vaulted ceilings in most of the rooms on the main floor, and access to the outdoors from almost every bedroom.

We also headed up the interior design for this project. Custom designed cabinetry, wide plank wood flooring, ornate lighting, tilework, and countertops were just a few of the things we put together. Other details like wall mounted faucets over vessel sinks made this house come alive with creativity.

The landscape/site design was done in house as well. Designing a house into a hillside is no small feat. With that comes crucial detailing for retaining walls, driveways and walks.
